Training, Research and Consultation
Michael G. Brock provides comprehensive and high quality counseling
and forensic (court-related) evaluations in a private practice setting. He has extensive experience in evaluating
children, adolescents, adults, and families from a family systems perspective. He has been in practice for over
29 years in a variety of areas, including child custody, parental termination, videotaped sexual abuse forensic
interviews, driver license evaluations, and substance abuse and domestic violence assessment and
treatment.
Michael Brock holds two mental health licenses, and has provided local
workshops and seminars for The Guidance Center, the Dearborn Downriver branch of the Michigan Bar Association,
and the Michigan Association of Professional Psychologists. He has also volunteered his time to participate in
Judge Randy Kalmbach's "Court in the Schools" program, held at Downriver Detroit High Schools in Wyandotte and
Riverview.
Michael Brock is an avid reader of current psychological forensic
research, and Michigan statutes, court rules, and case law related to child custody and child abuse investigation,
and has published many articles on these subjects. His monthly column appears in the Detroit Legal News, and some
of his writings are available online and in other publications.
Michael Brock also provides consultation to attorneys and the courts
regarding current standards in mental health evidence as defined by forensic literature, professional guidelines
and ethics codes. He provides assistance with case preparation for attorneys by assessing the psychological
evidence for and against their clients, reviewing treatment records, and preparing for cross-examining expert
witnesses.
